Arched marble bar niche

This built-in bar sits inside an arched opening wrapped in figured wood. We clad the back wall in a single dramatic marble with purple-gray and gold veining, then cut a thick-profile counter from the same stone to sit on the cabinetry below.

The back panel was fabricated to follow the curve of the arch, with clean openings for the brass shelving and lighting hardware. It is the kind of detail work digital templating makes possible: the stone has to meet a curved wood surround with no visible gaps.
